Fairy Life Tip-In

I am in a Tip-In swap with my Altered Pages yahoo group. I love these because we are making altered books without having to send the books through the mail ($$$!). I also like them because of the challenges that they bring. This tip-in theme was Fairy Life. I usually start with a quote, and I found a rather long one by Robert Louis Stevenson online. I only used the first 2 stanzas, and they worked perfectly. The two Altered Pages fairies I found had elements of purple in them, so that is where the purple background came from. I finished it last night, but it needed something else. Today I found the little jewelled flowers (OK, I am a sucker for jewels!) at the dollar store, and they were perfect!

Still at home, have finished my second page for Joanne's and Charmaine's Journals. Joanne's is a little book that opens up to see all the pictures that you see on Charmaine's page. Charmaine didn't want anything bulky on her pages. I have used Studio K scrapbooking papers for the backgrounds and accents. On Joanne's page I stamped on the paper with chalk inks. and also used chalk ink to do the borders on Charmaine's page.

Distress Ink

Still home sick. When I get a cold, it triggers my asthma, and I'm out for a week or two. Hopefully just a week this time. Because I work with small children, there are abundant germs when I go back, and I need to be well enough to fend them off (the germs)!
Here is my last Distress Ink page for the Art Idea Journal Round Robin. This time I combined colours by placing a smaller tag on a larger one. I don't think you can see it in this scan, but I have stamped in the corners with Versamark and rubbed on some Pearl Ex, just enough to give the whole thing a shimmer. I rubbed the Distress Ink on the two middle diamonds using a sponge. It really softens the look when you use the DI and then rub with a sponge.

I have been a participant in a long-term Art Idea journal Round Robin for about 2 years now, with the ByHand Artists Yahoo group. I have my last 2 journals waiting for me, and since I am home sick this week, I have some time to get them done. My "theme" for all the journals has been Distress Inks , and I have tried to make a different page for each journal, using Distress Inks as the focus. Here is my page for Joanne's journal. I have distressed ATC sized cs pieces by rubbing the ink onto the cs, then spritzing it with water. I then ironed them while they were wet. The ATC's are two-sided, with the name of the ink color on each. I did a little "ATC" type decoration on each to to give it the feel of an ATC, and placed them in clear ATC pockets. I stamped my new ATC backing stamp that I bought in Myrtle Beach (Artful Legacy) and filled in the information. The background of the page is just torn scrapbook paper with a little stamping around it.

Sympathy Card

Last week I heard that the Grandfather of my teaching assistant's husband passed away in his sleep. He apparently was a wonderful and kind man, who doted on their daughter, just like my Dad did with my daughter before he died. Luckily my daughter got to know him well before he passed on, and has wonderful memories of her "Papa Lu". Their daughter will have memories of a different kind, photos and stories of what a loving great grandfather he was. Here is the card I made for them. The top and bottom of the card is ripped scrapbook paper, and the centre is DTP with Cat's Eyes. The stamps were a gift from a friend, and are from "ClubScrap" I love the set.

New ATC's

Three new ATC's. The one with the bees was an "unfinished" ATC that was sent to me when I ordered some unmounted stamps from MirkwoodDsigns, I just added some embellishments to it.

Fashion Deco

This page is for my friend Marg's Fashion Quotes Deco. I chose "corsets" because I just got a new set of unmounted corset stamps while in Toronto!
The words are clear plastic, and I wasn't sure how to adhere them, so I just used clear drying Diamond Glaze. It shows a little bit. The corset opens and there is a quote inside.

The corset opens to reveal the quote: "I'm not suitable for Dior, their philosophy is to confine the body with a corset on top and hide the rest of it under a big skirt" Geoffrey Beene

These are the tags in the corner pocket. The quote on the first tag is continued on the back.

Deco pages

I have finished a few decos that have been on my table for too long! I am attempting to catch up on several art commitments, and these decos are one of them. The first one is Anne's quotes deco. I love this image of Buddah, and wanted a quiet peaceful page. I put a real pressed daisy behind his head. On the right side of the page is a littl metal box that holds a scroll of Buddah quotes.
The second deco is a Paper Bag Christmas Deco, I used images from http://www.Alteredpages.com Christmas collage sheets. This deco is for the Canadian Altered Books Yahoo Group. The green loop pulls out a large double-sided tag which is nestled inside the bag.
